Homeschool For children aged 4 to 8 years

We honour the uniqueness of every child and align education to their interests.

Our program is founded on evidenced based practices that offer children the space and freedom to explore, discover, play, question, connect and thrive through developmentally appropriate practices. A place where they can be themselves and fall in love with the joy of learning. All our learning opportunities link to the EYLF and Australian Curriculum and will support your own homeschool program.

Throughout the day, your child will have the opportunity to engage in self-directed, play-based learning, inquiry projects, nature play, STEAM activities and creative exploration. There will also be opportunities for your child to engage in purposeful writing and join reading focus groups.

The principles of character education, positive education and mindfulness are woven throughout our curriculum to begin teaching children about their strengths, growth mindset and how their brain works so that they can truly flourish.

Philosophy

We are dedicated to supporting and developing children’s well-being, curiosities, strengths and interests in a small, warm and nurturing learning environment.

We believe children thrive when they are engaged in experiences that evoke a sense of joy, creativity and wonderment and nurture their whole being - body, mind and spirit.

Children are innately curious and interactive learners, and thrive when absorbed in authentic and playful experiences that are developmentally appropriate. Our aim is to provide young children with an educational environment in which they can be themselves, follow their interests and fall in love with the joy of learning.

Pedagogy

Pedagogy is the art and science of teaching. It is the lens through which the curriculum is taught. Through purposeful play and investigation, the children at Flourish will develop a passion for learning that empowers them to become life long learners.

Wellbeing

We understand that children's wellbeing is fundamental to their happiness and success as a learner. Flourish children will be engaged in a social and emotional wellbeing program that will build the foundational knowledge and skills essential for looking after their mental health and being productive life-long learners.

Curriculum

Our program links the Early Years Learning Framework (Kindergarten) and the Australian Curriculum (Years P-2) to the interests and needs of each child.

The Flourish Curriculum fosters intrinsic learning, curiosity, exploration, questioning and critical thinking. Children will be actively engaged in hands-on learning experiences and inquiry projects that make learning playful, purposeful and meaningful.

Who

In 2024, we will run a Kindergarten and Prep homeschool program

Our program is facilitated by Emma, a Bachelor qualified and fully registered teacher with over 20 years of experience working with young children.

We have a small group of 7 children.

Where

Our Flourish Home is located in Gower Street, Toowong, Brisbane.

When

Beginning January 2024 for Kindy and Prep aged children.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am - 4:00pm during Queensland school term dates.

Inclusions

Our program will support your own homeschool program. Your enrolment includes

Assistance with creating a home learning plan that can be submitted to the Home Education Unit (if required).
A learning journal, documenting the learning your child is engaged in with links to the Australian Curriculum (for children enrolled in two or more days).
Assistance with writing an end of year report that can be submitted to the Home Education Unit (if required).

Investment

$125 / day

We are registered with Inspired Family Daycare and the Government Child Care Subsidy is available for eligible homeschooling families.
