Tinker Garden - Art & Sensory PLay Program

Immerse your little one in a magical world of sensory exploration and creative expression in our weekly classes designed especially for 2–4 year olds.

Tinker Garden is a teacher-led art and sensory play program designed to inspire creativity, curiosity and confidence in young children.

Through hands-on experiences in process art, sensory exploration and creative discovery, children are invited to experiment with a wide variety of materials, tools and artistic techniques. Each session encourages children to observe, investigate, create and express their ideas in a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Alongside developing creative thinking, fine motor skills and sensory awareness, children are guided to build important social and emotional skills such as communication, cooperation, emotional regulation, problem solving, resilience and independence. Art and sensory play provide meaningful opportunities for children to practice these skills as they work alongside others, navigate challenges and share ideas.

Each week our session is thoughtfully planned around engaging themes and learning objectives, using process art and sensory play as the primary instructional mediums through which children learn, explore and grow.

Set within a calm outdoor environment, Tinker Garden nurtures children's natural sense of wonder while supporting the development of the foundational skills needed for successful participation in kindergarten, school and the wider community.

We are located in Toowong, Brisbane.

frequently asked questions

Parent attendance is flexible. Some children are ready to independently join the program from the start of the session, while others may benefit from a parent or carer remaining briefly to support their transition into the learning environment.

We aim to ensure each child is comfortable and parents are welcome to stay for a short period if needed to help their child settle into the session, before transitioning out once their child is engaged in our learning experiences.

Each Tinker Garden group is limited to a maximum of 12 children to maintain a focused and engaging learning environment. This group size enables the educator to deliver clear instruction, support engagement in planned activities and ensure children can meaningfully participate in the program’s learning experiences.

The Tinker Garden sessions are led by Emma. Emma is a fully registered teacher and holds a Blue Card and First Aid qualifications specifically for working with children including CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma training.

All bookings are non-refundable. Unfortunately we can not offer refunds or credits for individual sessions missed in the term. However, we do offer make-up sessions on other Tinker Garden days within the term (depending on group numbers & availability).

Sessions cancelled by us due to unsafe weather conditions or teacher illness will be rescheduled or credited to your account. You will be notified of any cancellations by 8am on the day.

Tinker Garden sessions continue in light rain, as this can provide valuable opportunities for sensory exploration and outdoor learning experiences. On these days, children are encouraged to wear appropriate wet-weather clothing such as gumboots, raincoats, or waterproof overalls. Depending on conditions, learning activities may take place outdoors or be adapted for an indoor learning environment.

In the event of heavy rain, thunderstorms, or unsafe weather conditions, the session will not proceed. Families will be notified by 8:00am if a session needs to be cancelled. Where this occurs, the session will be rescheduled or credited to your account.
